2019-2020
JULIA DINGLASAN - PRESIDENT
My name is Julia Dinglasan (she/her/hers) and I’m excited to be your president this year. I’m going into my fifth year at UBC, and I intend to pursue a career in municipal engineering. I’ve been involved with Civil Club for the past two years, starting off as the secretary and eventually taking on the roles of Mentorship Coordinator and co-VP Student Life. I found that Civil Club was a great way to get involved at my own pace, find community, and build my resume. Outside of school and Civil Club, I enjoy watching sunsets, working out, learning about social justice issues, and exploring the local restaurants in Vancouver.
DANIEL HUMPHREYS - VP FINANCE
My name is Daniel and I am the VP Finance for this year. I handle all the money and budget things in the club so if you have any questions on what your money goes to ask me! In my free time, I enjoy watching football (GO 49ERS!), playing soccer, watching anime, and playing WOW Classic (Bigglesworth - Dwarf Paladin). You can find me chilling in the Loft most of the time, out in the field protecting small children from 30-50 feral hogs, or at any of the civil events!
NINA TONG - VP ACADEMIC
Hi, I am Civil Club’s VP Academic for the upcoming year! I am in my sixth year of school, having done two years of coop. I was the VP Admin last year. My field of interest is water related (I am in between water treatment and water resources engineering). I like to go on jogs, bike, make foods from different cultures, explore the city, and chill out on the beach. This year, I will be running Beef & Pizza to get your feedback on courses, and I will likely be organizing some fun events for you guys to destress.
COLLEEN QIU - VP ADMINISTRATION
Hello everyone, my name is Colleen! I started at Civil Club as Second Year Rep and now I am back as your VP Admin! I will mainly be responsible for the recruitment of volunteers, election of the civil club council, maintenance of student spaces, and providing you with the most updated information on social media throughout the year. With a passion for city planning and architecture, I aspire to be an urban designer in the future. Outside of school, I enjoy travelling, ballroom dancing, reading Rate My Prof reviews, and watching cat videos.
MARC CHENEVAL - VP EXTERNAL
Hi everyone! I am very excited to be your new VP External this year. My job is to coordinate with companies and the Civil Department to help us all graduate ready to enter industry. In addition to coordinating corporate information sessions, the biggest way I do that is by organizing the UBC Civil Engineering Alumni Student Night. In past years, I’ve been 2nd year rep and VP Finance. I’ve made many of my best friends through Civil Club and it’s been a great way for me to really enjoy my degree. Outside of Engineering, I love to play soccer, bake, and sing in a choir.
FRANCIS DANE SOLIVEN - CO-VP STUDENT LIFE, TERM 2
Hi! My name is Francis Dane Soliven, but you can call me the VP of student life along with my main man, Showtime himself, Justin Shou. We're in charge of events, so if you're into those get in touch! I'm a Philippines born Canada raised kid who likes biking, playing fps games, and watching waaaay too much netflix. If you get the chance, look into signing up for civil club. There's a lot of great opportunities and it's a great place to find family in the small city of UBC.
JUSTIN SHOU - CO-VP STUDENT LIFE, TERM
Hi. My name is Justin and I will be one of your VP Student Life for this semester along with Francis. If you have any suggestions or ideas for any events, drop us a line. I’m in 2nd year and you can usually find me in the Loft or in IKB. Outside of school, I like to go on hikes, watch NBA, and hanging out with friends. I hope to see you at CEME Rollin’ this year!
NIKO PLUZHNIKOV - GRADUATE REPRESENTATIVE
Hello everyone, my name is Niko and I will be your Grad Rep and Iron Ring Ceremony Coordinator this year! This means that I am your contact for anything related to the Iron Ring Ceremony and dinner, grad photos, and the 2020 grad trip. In the past, I have acted as Social Coordinator for the club, so you may already know me from events in previous years. You can often find me in the Civil Loft, either cramming for a quiz, working on homework, or browsing adoptable cats on the SPCA website.
MARAL MUNKHUU - SOCIAL COORDINATOR
Hello! My name is Maral Munkhuu. Please call me Marla. In case you’re wondering where my name is from, I’m from Mongolia. I’m the social coordinator this year so if you have any questions about anything related to social events presented by the Civil Club feel free to shoot me a message or if you have any suggestions or recommendations please let me know. If I’m on campus, you will most likely find me in IKB, studying. Outside school, I like swimming, photography and anything artsy and craftsy. I enjoy creating and making things with my own hands.
ALEESHA HSU - CO-MENTORSHIP COORDINATOR, TERM 2
Hey y’all! I’m Aleesha (she/her/hers), and I’ll be one of your Mentorship Coordinators in 2020. Last year I was the club secretary, this year, all mentorship, all the time. Outside of Civil Club I am a Co-Coordinator of Women in Engineering, and I just started Third Quadrant Design, CIVL’s newest design team. Other nebulous facts: I play premier women’s soccer in town, I used to be a ski instructor, I can bake you a loaf of bread, and I have been known to slang some foodora curry on my bike. Ask me about post-revolution French architecture, mass-timber, or green building!
